Slated to release sometime in early June, Nokia Lumia 925 has already raised a few concerns. Certain reports indicate that Nokia is rolling out its upcoming device with an aluminum body. Now the plot thickens around the Finnish firm as the 925 is going to be the first in Lumia series with a metal body. This reason has compelled consumers to feel that the 925 will suffer from issues regarding antenna and reception performance. However, to clear the air regarding this issue, Nokia released a statement on Thursday, May 23 via its official blog saying, “This [the phone's metal exterior] looks gorgeous, and adds robustness to the phone. But what’s worth noting is that it does not impact on the strength of the signal you’ll be able to receive on the phone.” Nokia states that the aluminum ring that the Lumia 925 is made of, in fact acts as an [+more]

Nokia, the firm that once dominated the smartphone market, is now hoping to get back into the game by plunging into the tablet market in direct competition to Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 3. Nokia Lumia 920 Not Enough to Restore, Nokia’s lost Glory, Shareholder Threatening The CEO

gsmarena_001

Nokia made quite a gamble when it chose to make Windows Phone based smartphones a couple of years ago. And even if it didn’t do quite well initially, the Lumia 920 launched last year running on Windows Phone 8 did get quite some positive feedback from the market. But looks like it’s not done enough to restore Nokia’s former glory – the company’s CEO received quite some threats from its shareholders during a meeting held recently. Now, you can’t blame the investors – it’s been a while since they’ve been waiting to see some success. But it’s still not been able to reach anywhere close to the likes of Apple and Samsung. While Samsung sold 69.7 million phones and Apple managed to sell 37.4 million iPhones during the last quarter, Nokia managed to sell just 5.6 million Lumia smartphones during the same period. The shareholders are pressing Nokia to diversify [+more]

Lumos! And a halo takes me away into the world of Nokia. In the bright light, I glimpse a Nokia Lumia 928 in making. Tring tring! My Lumia 920 jolts me back to reality. Nokia has no plans to launch a Lumia 928, err, does it? Unbelievably, leaks doing the rounds suggest that its flagship device the Lumia 928 is set to illumine the smartphone zone this May. The snippet hardly reveals anything expect a suave white body that is set to woo back those who abandoned Nokia for Samsung or Sony. We failed to get any official comment from the Finnish makers. One byte we managed to get is from Stephen Elop, CEO of Nokia saying, “I don’t know because we haven’t announced the Lumia 928.” Bytes come and go but does our imagination? Here is the magic wand from our mind that has conjured these specs for the [+more]

Nokia Lumia 920 Shuts Samsung Galaxy S4 Up- The Shutter Stabilization Story Leaves Samsung High But Dry

gsmarena_040

I have been waiting to announce my grand buy this year. No, I do not mean the Samsung Grand. I have the Samsung Galaxy S4 in mind. Before I go gaga over its sexy physique, too-die-for features, its beamer of a display—I am a tad let down with its shutter lacking stability. While admitting that I love the shutter’s 13-MP tag that brings my clicks to life, shaky hands at times do mar my mod. But why could the Galaxy S4 not have an optical image stabilizer? In a lance war with the Nokia Lumia 920, my buy bows down just because of its shutter story. A video doing the rounds on the web, shows both smarties tugged on to a remote controlled gaming car, the snaps from both Nokia and Samsung prodigies left me in no doubt as to who wears the crown. While shelling a decently lump bill [+more]

Nokia’s Gamble With Windows 8 Phone Pays Off: Lumia Models Catapults The Leader Back Into Game

Looks like Nokia’s gamble with Windows Phone is finally beginning to pay off. After consecutive quarters of disappointing results, the former world leader in mobile phones managed to jump up out of red during Q4 2012. Nokia managed to sell 4.4 million Lumia smartphones during this period, a much needed perk for the company, especially after a difficult Q3 when 2.9 million Lumia smartphones were shipped. The total for Lumia stands at 14.3 million units until December 31, 2012. These figures completely match Nokia’s expectations for Q4. What comes as more good news for the company is that its overall sales volume in the North American market also saw an increase of 40 percent year-to-year, to 700,000 during Q4 2012. Q2 and Q3 saw Nokia selling 600,000 and 300,000 respectively. While the U.S. sales are yet to register a dramatic increase, looks like Nokia’s slow and steady approach is definitely [+more]
