It was indeed true when someone said that with every passing year, technology is getting smaller and cheaper. If it was smartphones and tablets that caught our fancy until last year, 2013 looks all set to take the trend from our palms and onto our wrists with the advent of smartwatches. US Judge Rejects Apple’s Plea to Ban Samsung Smartphones

The verdict on Apple vs Samsung case is out. US District Judge Lucy Koh has said that there is not enough evidence to suggest that Apple patents infringed by Samsung had affected sales for Apple. Therefore, the judge has rejected Apple’s plea to ban sales of Samsung’s smartphones. Apple has sought a ban on Samsung products based on the verdict of a jury earlier this year that the Korean manufacturer had infringed Apple’s patents. The jury has asked Samsung to pay $1.05bn (£650m) in damages. However, Samsung has challenged the ruling and with the Judge turning down Apple’s request to ban Samsung from selling its smartphones, it is going to be a long haul for Apple. Koh said, “The phones at issue in this case contain a broad range of features, only a small fraction of which are covered by Apple’s patents.”

Sony Xperia V Available for Christmas in Europe

Sony Xperia V is going to be available in parts of Europe by December, according to a statement by Sony Russia. This phone will now work on the Android Jelly Bean and it will be available at a retail price of 24,990 RUB or $805. However, the price of the Xperia V is likely to go down after launch. At the same time, the Sony Xperia V will be available in some markets, such as France, only in January. Currently, the handset uses Android Ice Cream Sandwich, which will be available till the new version of the phone is available.
