apple-i-phone

Apple with its top-end devices has always pinched your pocket, but the launch of cheaper iPhone seems to be more affordable choice for the users. The 4.7 and 5.7-inch iPhone were intended to release in Q1 of 2014. However, if rumors are to be believed, inexpensive iPhones could be a reality this year only. Pegatron is currently manufacturing the cheaper versions with plastic chassis and also handling orders for iPad Mini. DigiTimes reports that Pegatron, the Taiwan-based supply chain maker, would start shipments in August for iPhones and iPad Mini. The shipments for its components would begin in July giving a fair share of benefit to chassis supplier Casetek.   The report further added that the trial production for 5S and the cheaper iPhone would be in July followed by mass production in August and launch in September. Nokia-Jordan-Teases-Mint-Green-Lumia-920

‘No not a Nokia’—That’s what we have been saying all this while. But just then I heard a knock—and whom do I see at the door? An amazing new avatar from the Finnish maker—the Nokia Lumia 920! Instead of dumping Nokia like my old yet fave top, I hugged it back right into my closet! Its look almost blew my head off and swept me off with its touch. I mean it—with awesome candy colors such as red, cyan, yellow and classic hues such as black, gray and white; Nokia Lumia 920 brought a fresh coat of paint into the smartphone world. Now I hear that it would come in mint green—perhaps justifying the green stares that onlookers would throw in its way. Now, realizing that you must have already gone excited, sorry—this might just be an April fools’ joke. Compensating for your sneers and ‘awwws’, we bring to you [+more]

Google Brings Christmas Back to the Android Calendar

andriod 4.2

The December that vanished from Google’s calendar in Andriod 4.2 Jelly Bean is on its way to being healed. A patch has been rolled out by Google which would fix the bug. Andriod 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was the first one to introduce an app called People which lets you store the usual names, phone number and addresses and lets you also assign dates such as birthdays and anniversaries. When people updated their Andriod 4.0 to Andriod 4.2, a strange thing happened; a whole month of December went missing. In fact, the date picker skipped the month entirely, going straight from November to January. The bug was first noticed by  Rohit Naik, who posted a screenshot of the offending app to the Android message boards on Google Code. Fortunately, Jelly Bean hadn’t taken away the cheer of Christmas entirely. It was only the People app which was affected by the [+more]

SMS messages in the UK plummeted by 38.5 billion in the second quarter, down from 39.7 billion in the fourth quarter of 2011. It seems Whatsapp and Imessage have become the latest trend of messaging. This is due to ease and economy of messaging involved with these apps. Microsoft Surface: Is The Pricing Not Competitive Enough To Make It Successful?

Surface tabs

As splendid as the Microsoft Surface tablets look, if analysts are to be believed, the device may not do as well due to its ineffective pricing. Starting at $499, Shaw Wu – an analyst with Sterne Agee, feels that the tablet is far too expensive for consumers to want to pick one up. Microsoft also seems to be testing the waters rather cautiously, with intentions to build only 2-3 million units until December, as opposed to 5-6 million units of Google Nexus 7 and 3-4 million units of Amazon Kindle Fire HD tablets. The price point may also make it more profitable for Microsoft’s hardware partners like Dell, HP, and Lenovo to introduce competing products at cheaper rates. However, it may not be as easy for them to overtake the Surface in the Windows-based tablets. According to Wu, Microsoft will definitely find it hard to overthrow the reigning [+more]
